Fireworks are an essential part of summer celebrations. When setting off your fireworks this summer, keep some of these safety tips in mind:

  • Always have a responsible adult present

  • Only use fireworks outdoors

  • Dispose of fireworks properly by soaking them in water and then disposing of them in your trashcan

  • Did you know........?

  • Children under the age of 16 are prohibited from purchasing fireworks in the state of North Carolina

  • Illegal fireworks include: anything that explodes or is projected in the air, firecrackers, rockets, roman candles, and aerial fireworks

  • Legal fireworks include: snake and glow worms, smoke devices, such as smoke bombs, wire sparklers, trick noisemakers, including party poppers, string poppers, and snappers
